AC Schnitzer ACS3 3.5d Coupe has become the world's fastest road legal diesel. The model has reached a speed of 142.1 mph (228.7 km/h) of the Italian speed circuit of Nardo. This is the third record that the AC Schnitzer tuners have registered at Nardo. This time the record obtained with the ACS3 3.5d has overcome the existing record by 5.4 mhp (8.7 km/h).
In 2006, the AC Schnitzer team have obtained the record for the fastest road legal BMW in the world with the Tension model. A year later, ACS brought the GP3.10 at Nardo and has obtained the record for the fastest LPG powered car in the world. The circuit from Nardo is 7.71 mile (12.4 km) long and is owed by Continental.
ACS 3 3.5d Coupe is based on the BMW E92 335d and develops 310 hp and 680 Nm of torque. The price tag of such a model is 86.000 euros. The previous record holder was a BMW E60 535d created by DMS Automotive, which developed 344 hp and 638 Nm of torque.
