The tuning experts from Brabus have brought to the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show two new and interesting concepts. The first is a full electric vehicle based on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the second is a hybrid called the Brabus Zero Emissions Business.

The hybrid is based on the Mercedes-Benz E220 CDI BlueEfficency which has received the ECO tuning package. This package offers an extra 30 bhp and ups the torque to 450 Nm, while the power output of this car is 200 bhp.

The extra power is obtained from two electric powered engines, built by the guys from Protean Electric, that are located on the rear wheels of the vehicle and are masked by Monoblock Q rims. Each of the electric engines develops 68 bhp in ECO mode and 109 bhp in Sport mode. The maximum power output of the two engines is 216 bhp and the maximum torque 1,600 Nm. The car accelerates from a standstill to 62mph (or 100 km/h) in 7.4 seconds being faster than the standard E220 CDI BlueEfficency by 1.3 seconds. Going from 37 mph to 75 mph (or 60km/h to 120 km/h) is done in 5.6 seconds in the hybrid mode, although this model is 561 lbs (or 255 kg) heavier than the standard E220 CDI.

Brabus Zero Emissions Business is equipped with a lithium-ion battery that can store 18.6 kWh. In the ECO setting, the car has an autonomy of 75 miles (or 120 km) without any CO2 emissions and in the Sport setting the autonomy is 37 miles (or 60 km). The intelligent system that re-uses the kinetic energy obtained from braking has a maximum output of 140 kW. The batteries of this car are recharged in about 30 minutes from a special socket.

For the moment, Brabus has no intention of producing this model although the car enthusiasts have shown interest in this model.
